PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a grain-oriented silicon steel sheet in which the problem of iron-loss deterioration occurring at the time of short-time final finish annealing is solved. SOLUTION: A silicon steel stock containing 1.5-7.0 wt.% Si is hot rolled into a plate. Thereafter, hot rolled plate annealing is applied if necessary, then the hot rolled plate is cold rolled once or is cold rolled two or more times while interposing an intermediate annealing and finished to final sheet thickness. After decarburizing annealing if necessary, the resultant cold rolled sheet is subjected to short-time final finish annealing including stages of soaking and holding at a temp. of 950-1,200 deg.C and subsequent cooling. In this method of manufacturing a directional silicon steel sheet, the tension to be applied to the steel sheet at the time of cooling is controlled to (0.1 to 1.0) kgf/mm2. |
