The method and apparatus for converting monoscopic images to stereoscopic images is achieved by objectifying objects from a two-dimensional original image, and editing the image on the basis of the object. It is possible to more detailedly realize the stereoscopic image by converting the two-dimensional image of each object into three-dimensional image, and then synthesizing the right eye image of each object and the two-dimensional original image. Furthermore, it is possible to effectively reduce the efforts and cost necessary for producing the data of stereoscopic images because the most two-dimensional images are usable according to the present invention.
