METHOD FOR MOLDING OPTICAL ELEMENT AND FRAME BODY TO BE USED FOR MOLDING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regulate rolling and spreading of glass during press molding and to prevent transfer failure near the peripheral part of the molded product. SOLUTION: In the method for molding an optical element by heating and softening a glass blank in the die composed of a pair of upper and lower die members for a microprocessed optical element to mold an optical element, a frame body having a larger diameter than the glass blank at the temperature when the glass blank is mounted and being in contact with the glass blank all over the periphery during heating and molding is mounted in the die. Then the glass blank is mounted inside of the frame body to mold the optical element.
