PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily select a stepped dimming mode and a continuous dimming mode without any mistakes, commonly using one operation part for the operations of the stepped dimming mode and the continuous dimming mode. SOLUTION: A remote control device 2 is provided with an up-switch 25 and a down-switch 26. When a pressing operation is performed for the up-switch 25 or the down-switch 26, a dimming control circuit 12 changes a light output of a light source 10 by one step of a stepped dimming level and maintains the light output of the light source 10 to the dimming level for a standby period T1. If the pressing operation of the up-switch 25 or the down-switch 26 is continued at a termination point of time of the standby period T1, the mode is transferred to the continuous dimming mode, and the dimming level is changed with the elapse of time for the period till the pressing operation is terminated.
