<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic component in which an external terminal such as a lead wire can be soldered surely to a terminal electrode and the solder can be prevented from projecting above the terminal electrode. <P>SOLUTION: A multilayer piezoelectric element (electronic component) comprises a piezoelectric layer (substrate) 7, and a terminal electrode 17 provided on the surface 7a of the substrate 7. The terminal electrode 17 has a first electrode layer 21 formed on the substrate 7, and a second protruding electrode layer 23 formed on the first electrode layer 21 to cover a part thereof wherein the second electrode layer 23 has a curved surface. Since the second electrode layer 23 has a curved surface, molten solder 25 flows smoothly from the second electrode layer 23 toward the first electrode layer 21 when the external terminal of a lead wire 24 is soldered to the second electrode layer 23. Consequently, the solder 25 can be prevented from projecting above the terminal electrode 17 even when the quantity of solder is increased in order to connect the terminal electrode 17 and the external terminal more positively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
