PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for a fluorescent lamp that easily absorbs the difference in expansion and contraction between the fluorescent lamp and a substrate or a chassis or the like caused by the temperature difference due to turning-on and turning-off of the fluorescent lamp while absorbing variations in machining and mounting of the socket. SOLUTION: The socket for the fluorescent lamp includes a clip part for clamping and holding the side parts of a terminal part of the fluorescent lamp, and a substrate mounting part electrically connected to a substrate. The clip part and the substrate mounting part are coupled to each other by an elastic deformation part. In order to make a socket structure compact, it is preferable that the elastic deformation part is formed by folding it back on the backside of the clip part while the substrate mounting part is formed by folding it back so as to go under the lower side of the elastic deformation part.
