<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide recording paper capable of being used for an inkjet recording system and an electrophotographic recording system in common, and capable of being furnished with high color development of an image by both of dye ink and pigment ink, scarcely causing feathering, when used in printing by the inkjet printing system, and to provide methods for recording the image using the recording paper. <P>SOLUTION: The recording paper has a base material containing at least cellulose pulp and a filler, wherein at least one of surfaces of the base material is coated with a coating material containing at least a polyvalent metal salt having a solubility in 100g of water at 25°C of not less than 50[g/(100g-H<SB>2</SB>O)] and a polyvalent metal salt having a solubility in 100g of water at 25°C of not less than 1[g/(100g-H<SB>2</SB>O)] and less than 40[g/(100g-H<SB>2</SB>O)].
