<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an electrostatic latent image with optimum density in accordance with image information on the surface of a photoreceptor drum by intercepting a part of eraser light with which the photoreceptor drum is irradiated with simple constitution. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 is equipped with: a drum unit 110 equipped with a protection cover 112 which covers the exposed part of the photoreceptor drum 111 when the drum unit 110 is taken out from a device main body 101 and which moves to a retreat position when it is attached to the device main body 101; a developing unit 120 visualizing the electrostatic latent image formed on the photoreceptor drum 111; and an electrostatic charge eliminator 140 eliminating residual charge by irradiating the surface of the photoreceptor drum 111 with eraser light before electrifying the photoreceptor drum 111. Then, the protection cover 112 is provided with a shielding part 119 for intercepting a part of the eraser light with which the surface of the photoreceptor drum 111 is irradiated from the electrostatic charge eliminator 140. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
