摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration in image quality due to image voids formed at an image front end part in a low-temperature, low-humidity environment.SOLUTION: A transfer device which comprises an endless intermediate transfer belt 7 stretched rotatably by a plurality of stretch members, a nip formation member such as a secondary transfer roller 15 which abuts on a surface of the intermediate transfer belt to form a nip, and contacting/separating means such as a contact/separating mechanism 20 which performs switching between a separation position where the intermediate transfer belt and the nip formation member separate from each other and a contacting position where the intermediate transfer belt and the nip formation member come into contact with each other to form the nip, and transfers a toner image carried on a surface of the intermediate transfer belt to a sheet held in the nip has: temperature/humidity measurement means such as a temperature/humidity sensor 208 which measures the temperature and humidity in an image formation device comprising the transfer device; and separation quantity varying means 218 of varying a separation quantity at the separation position where the front end of the sheet enters the nip according to measurement results of the temperature/humidity measurement means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
