PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phenol resin that gives a cured product excellent in heat resistance and flame retardancy, to provide an epoxy resin, to provide a curable resin composition and to provide a cured product thereof.SOLUTION: The phenol resin is produced by reacting dihydroxynaphthalenes with ketones or aldehydes and has a benzoxanthene structure in which the content ratio of a phenol compound represented by formula (1) is 35 area% or less based on the phenol resin in terms of an area ratio as determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC). (Rs are each independently H, a 1-6C alkyl group, a 1-6C alkoxy group, a hydroxyl group, a methoxy group, an ethoxy group, a nitro group, a nitrile group, an amino group, a substituted/unsubstituted phenyl group or a naphthyl group; and k is an integer of 0 to 4.)SELECTED DRAWING: None |
