PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for estimating a battery life more accurately.SOLUTION: A reference-curve generation unit computes a change in an electrophysical quantity of a battery in an initial state over time in a preset charge zone and generates a reference curve for estimation of a life accompanying charge/discharge of the battery. In a battery-life estimation apparatus 500, a charge unit 510 charges a battery under test at a lower charge rate in a low-rate charge zone, a comparison unit 520 compares a change in an electrophysical quantity of the battery under test over time in the low-rate charge zone with the reference curve that has been generated by the reference-curve generation unit and that corresponds to the life of the battery in the initial state, and a life estimation unit 530 estimates the life of the battery on the basis of a comparison result.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
