The present invention relates to a method for generating a standard 3D avatar by human body shape. The method for generating a standard 3D avatar by human body shape according to the present invention comprises the steps of: average size analysis; image plane; 3D human body modeling; and 3D research avatar evaluation and supplementation. Through the steps, an average body shape and four group body shapes by body shape for adult women are designed to be utilized in a 3D virtual fitting program. A result from size suitability analysis for 3D avatar human body model groups by body shape for adult women established in the present invention shows a 0.5 error rate, thereby proving that the 3D avatar human body model groups can be utilized as a virtual fitting model in the ready-made clothes industry.
