Titanyl phthalocyanine contained as the charge generating agent has a main peak at a Bragg angle of 2θ±0.2°=27.2° in a CuKα characteristic X-ray diffraction spectrum, and satisfies the following (B) or (C) in a differential scanning calorimetry analysis spectrum. (B) Having no peaks within a range of 50°C or more and 400°C or less other than peaks accompanying evaporation of adsorbed water. (C) Having no peaks within a range of 50°C or more and 270°C or less other than peaks accompanying evaporation of adsorbed water, and having peaks within a range of 270°C or more and 400°C or less.
