PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform appropriate focus control according to an AF operation mode even if an imaging apparatus has various interchangeable lenses attached thereto.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus, allowing detachable attachment of a lens unit having a photographic optical system including a focus lens, includes: imaging means that photo-electrically converts a subject image formed via the attached lens unit, to generate an imaging signal; and control means that generates information on driving of the focus lens of the lens unit on the basis of a high frequency component of the imaging signal to perform focus control and performs fixed-length packet communication with the lens unit. The control means is enabled for setting for first control and second control different therefrom. In the first control, the control means specifies and controls a drive target position of the focus lens, and in the second control, the control means specifies and controls a driving direction and a driving speed of the focus lens. The control means transmits information on the driving of the focus lens, the information including information on the set control. |
