Provided are a method and an apparatus for reducing power consumption in an electronic device to save power. The electronic device may include a first processor and a second processor. The second processor bypasses at least one of a user input and a screen output with respect to the first processor among bypass operations, and stores screen data input from the first processor in a frame buffer. The first processor processes at least one of a user input and a screen output, through the second processor that executes the bypass operation, and when a specified power-saving operation entry condition is satisfied, the first processor changes the second processor into a processing operation and changes into a sleep operation. The second processor processes at least one of a user input and a screen output using screen data stored in the frame buffer during the processing operation until a specified power-saving operation termination condition is satisfied. Other embodiments are possible.
