摘要 <p>The invention relates to a sound absorber, especially for motor vehicles, and a method for the production thereof. The aim of the invention is to create an acoustically effective part for motor vehicles, which is provided with high thermal resistance and great restoring power when impinged by pressure in addition to having a great sound-absorbing effect. Said aim is achieved by a sound absorber formed from an open-cell molded part (7) that is produced from cork particles and thermally reactive binding agent, the ratio of the binding agent relative to the molded part (7) amounting to a maximum of 1 to 20 percent by weight. The inventive sound absorber is produced by introducing the cork particles, along with the thermally reactive binding agent, into a hollow space (4) of a molding tool that is embodied as an injection mold. Preferably, the binding agent is caused to bind by impinging the binding agent placed in the hollow space (4) of the molding tool (1) with steam (20).</p>
