1491548 Friction clutches SKF INDUSTRIAL TRADING & DEVELOPMENT CO BV 12 Feb 1975 [13 Feb 1974] 6065/75 Heading F2C In a diaphragm spring friction clutch a clutch release bearing 9 is mounted in the clutch cover 2 via a ring 8 which is flexible in the axial direction and rigid in the radial direction. The ring 8 is shown mounted (by vulcanizing or sticking) in a tubular portion 6 of the cover 2, although the tubular portion may be a separate member having a peripheral groove which the cover fits into (Fig. 3, not shown). The release bearing outer race can be connected to the ring 8 by vulcanizing or sticking, or a metal or plastics member (Figs. 4 and 5, respectively, not shown) secured to the ring 8 can have fingers or projections engaging a groove in the outer race. The clutch may be of the type disengaged by pulling on the release bearing 9, in which case the fingers 12 of the diaphragm spring engage in a groove of the outer race and the tubular portion 6 projects into the clutch (Fig. 2, not shown). The spring fingers 12 and the outer race of the bearing may have cooperating convex and concave surfaces. |
