The invention relates to a method for the irreversible and unalterable inscribing of information into the volume of materials by means of laser radiation. The focused laser beam operates at any desired depth of the volume. Special beam focusing makes it possible to produce structures which, as regards their depth, are wide or three-dimensional without affecting the surface of the materials. This makes the information input proof against forgery.
