PURPOSE: To obtain a durable optical tube which shines uniformly all over and is easy to handle by coating a core contg. polymer particles as a light diffusing agent in a synthetic resin matrix with an outer layer of a transparent synthetic resin. CONSTITUTION: A core contg. particles of an org. high molecular compd. such as polyalkyl acrylate as a light diffusing agent in a synthetic resin matrix is coated with an outer layer of a transparent resin optionally mixed with additives such as a flame retardant, a dye and a heat stabilizer to obtain the objective durable optical tube easy to handle. When light is introduced into this optical tube from one end, it is scattered by the light diffusing agent and passes through the outer layer or returns to the inside of the core by total reflection from the boundary between the core and the outer layer and the entire optical tube shines. |
