PROCESS FOR STIFF-FINISHING AND STAIN-PROOFING OF CELLULOSIC FIBER STRUCTURE

PURPOSE:To obtain a cellulosic fiber structure having stiffened texture as well as stain-proofing performance resistant to washing and exhibiting remarkable effect by immersing a cellulosic fiber structure in a sulfuric acid solution having a specific concentration for a short time, drying the product and applying stain- proofing treatment to the product. CONSTITUTION:A cellulosic fiber structure is immersed in a sulfuric acid solution having a concentration of 45-80 deg.Be (preferably 50-60 deg.Be) at 5-20 deg.C (preferably 10-15 deg.C) for 1-10sec (preferably 3-7sec), washed with water, neutralized and dried. A stain-proofing agent such as polyester resin and polyhydric alcohol fatty acid ester is applied to the treated fiber structure to obtain the objective cellulosic fiber structure having wash-resistant stiff- finished texture and stain-proofing performance which are unattainable by conventional process.
