Process for the preparation of acyl isocyanates.

The invention relates to a process for the preparation of acyl isocyanates which consists in reacting oxalyl chloride with a salt chosen from the group consisting of the hydrohalides and sulphates of carboxamides and/or of carbamates which are unsubstituted on the nitrogen and in then heating the reaction mixture at a temperature between 30 DEG and 150 DEG C. The process makes it possible to obtain acyl isocyanates with excellent yields under easily controllable operating conditions.
