The invention relates to a method for fastening rubber plates, use of the method in manufacturing blasting mats, blasting mat and uses thereof. In the method for fastening rubber plates - at least two rubber plates are placed on top of each other, - a fastening device is arranged through the rubber plates so that part of the fastening device is left on both sides of the rubber plates, - the rubber plates are fastened to each other by attaching the fastening device in connection with the rubber plates, - a first wire fastening means is arranged in connection with a first end of the fastening device that is left on a first side of the rubber plates, - a bonding wire is attached to the first wire fastening means.
