PURPOSE: To suppress the occurrence of an abnormal sound by muting the output of the decoded data by a muting circuit when an irregular pattern at the time of a layer 1 is detected by a bit allocation information irregular pattern detection means. CONSTITUTION: This decoder is provided with a detection circuit detecting the layer 1 mode from header information decomposed by a frame unpacking circuit 2 and the detection circuit 11 detecting the irregular pattern '1111' from bit allocation information decomposed by the frame unpacking circuit 2 when the layer 1 is detected by the layer mode detection circuit. Further, the decoder is provided with the muting circuit 13 muting the output of the decoded data. Then, when the irregular pattern is detected by the irregular pattern detector 11 of the bit allocation information, the output of the decoded data of the coding frame is muted by the muting circuit 13. |
