Steerable rigid axle for tractor

The axle (4) is guided by a self aligning tang (6) in its centre. It is suspended from a vertical spring hydraulic damper (9) whose cylinder (10) is fixed to the tractor's body. A horizontal thrust rod (17) connects the centre of the axle to a ball joint (18) at the tractor's (1) body (8). The tang is set in a bearing on the end of the piston rod (11). This bearing is preferably a spherical bearing in which the tang is born. The damper can preferably be hydraulically locked, and is connected to a reservoir (14) via a choke (15) and two way valve (16).
