The device has a guide bearing (13) with a body provided with a radial recess (14) which forms a housing for a spring (17). The spring applies a ball (16) on a guiding zone (12) that is formed on a steering rack (2), in middle point in a rack-and-pinion steering gear, on a double ramp shaped crater (15) arranged on a fraction of length of the zone. The crater forms an obstacle to the displacement of the rack.
