PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent dirt adhering to a document feeding belt from being read together with a document image and to prevent the quality of the read image from being impaired by the dirt by coating a dirt adhering area with touch-up paint having the same sensitivity characteristic as the sensitivity of a document background part scanned by a read part. SOLUTION: While the document carrying belt 14 is being turned, the dirt of the belt 14 is fetched as an image signal by the image sensor of a copying machine 2 through a platen (read part) 3, and the dirt of the belt 14 is detected based on the image signal. Primer (1st touch-up paint) whose material is styrene elastomer and a topcoat (2nd touch-up paint) which is applied to the upside of the primer and has the same color as the belt 14 are used as the touch-up paint. After the primer is applied to the belt 14 and dried, the topcoat is applied to the upside of the primer and dried. Thus, the dirt is prevented from being copied on a recording sheet together with the document image. |
