The determination includes determining multilayered system mass and saturation vapor density in the carrier gas. Process for quantitative determination of small amounts of water involves several repeated phases including (a) incomplete extraction of water from the system using a carrier gas; (b) quantitative determination of extracted water using a measure of the relative moisture in the carrier gas, of the carrier gas volume and the temperature; and (c) calculation of the amount of water in the system by determining system mass and saturation vapor density in the carrier gas.
