PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver mechanism and a handset, which suppress the leakage of reception sound and the infiltration of outer noise, can hear reception sound in a satisfactory state and in which uneasiness does not occur at the time of a reception call again. SOLUTION: An ear pad part 43 and a speaker 41 are fitted to the ball 15 of a ball and socket joint 14 and a grasping part 12 supports the ball holding part 16 of the ball and socket joint 14. Thus, the ear pad part 43 can rock in an arbitrary direction against the grasping part 12 and the ear pad part 43 can closely be bonded to an ear. Since a leaf spring 33 applies braking force to the ball 15, the direction and the angle of the ear pad part 43 which is closely bonded to the ear can be maintained even after the ear pad part 43 is detached from the ear.
