PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device that can properly display image data at a variable photographing rate onto an image display means with a prescribed display rate. SOLUTION: The image display device that continuously displays image data photographed by an image pickup device with a variable photographing rate, is provided with an image storage section 1 that stores the image data and information relating to the photographing rate, an image display section 4 that displays an image at a prescribed display rate, a frame rate detection section 2 that detects the photographing rate from the information stored in the image storage section 1 and detects the display rate of the image display section 4, and an interpolation image generating section 3 that generates an interpolation image to interpolate the image read from the image storage section 1 based on the information detected by the frame rate detection section 2.
