PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fire detector for an elevator capable of easily performing the operation test of a fire detector provided on an elevator shaft with less trouble. SOLUTION: The fire detector 24 operated by an environmental factor in fire is provided on the elevator shaft 1, and a testing means 25 for tentatively generating the environmental factor in fire is provided on an elevating body 2. This device further comprises a test control device which is operated by an artificial operation to energize the testing means 25 and operates the elevator body 2 to the position where the fire detector 24 is opposed to the testing means 25 and operated thereby to tentatively operate the fire detector 24. Accordingly, in the functional inspection of the fire detector 24, the elevating body 2 is raised and lowered by the operation of the test control device to oppose the testing means 25 to the fire detector 24, whereby the fire detector 24 can be tested by the operation of the testing means to facilitate the functional inspection work.
