PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the breakage of a roll and a bearing when abnormal load acts on the roll caused by abnormal passing-through of a cast slab, etc. SOLUTION: A disk spring is used as a reaction receiving means acting the load to the roll by receiving the reaction of the roll. The belleville spring loads a load corresponding to a flexible amount with the reaction of the roll when the cast slab is passed through. Then, when the reaction of the roll caused by the abnormal passing-through of the cast slab exceeds the regulated value, it is adjusted so as to be able to read smaller load than the load corresponding to the flexible amount. In this way, the load to the roll when the abnormal cast slab is passed through, is relaxed and the breakage of the roll and the wearing can be prevented in advance from happening.
