PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared image recognition device for highly precisely detecting only a living body such as a pedestrian regardless of how an object on an infrared image appears. SOLUTION: When a distance between its own vehicle and a binary object OBJ[A] which is determined to be likely a pedestrian by pedestrian decision processing is equal to a distance between its own vehicle and a binary object OBJ[B] being the target of comparison (S41; YES), and the OBJ[A] and the OBJ[B] exist with the same height (S42; YES), and a distance between the OBJ[A] and the OBJ[B] is smaller than a specific value (S43; YES), and the luminance average of a head mask MASK_A and the luminance average of a head mask MASK_B, which are respectively set at the portion which is estimated as the head of the pedestrian (S44) are equal (S45; YES), and the luminance distribution is smaller than a predetermined value (S46; YES), the OBJ[A] and the OBJ[B] are determined as an artificial structure divided by a shield object and detected (S47).
