PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article transfer device capable of increasing transfer efficiency of the whole device. SOLUTION: This article transfer device is constituted in such a way that groups of containers in two rows are loaded on a chain conveyor 33 and an article receiving body 34, a group of containers in one row are surrounded by a frame body 38 by advance and retraction operation and elevating and lowering operation of a fork device 37, and the group of containers surrounded by the advance and retraction operation of the fork device 37 are moved to transfer the container 2 between a conveyance conveyor device 3 and rotary shelf facility. At this time, a clearance in which the frame body 38 is positioned between the groups of containers in two rows is provided. The groups of containers in two rows are loaded and moved on the chain conveyor 33 and the article receiving body 34 to improve transfer efficiency. Since the clearance is provided between the groups of containers in two rows, the groups of containers can be moved per row by the frame body 38 positioned in this clearance.
