<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop an engine while preventing overcharge of a battery. <P>SOLUTION: In a hybrid vehicle in which a first motor, an engine, a drive shaft and a second motor are respectively connected to a sun gear of a planetary gear mechanism, a carrier and a ring gear, when the stop of the engine is instructed, the engine speed is gradually reduced, and the target torques Tm1* and Tm2* of motors MG1 and MG2 are set so that the required torque Tr* is output to the drive shaft (S104-S108), the motor powers Pm1 and Pm2 are calculated when the target torques Tm1* and Tm2* are output (S112).
