<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile information device and a method for automatically responding to a videophone call capable of carrying out an automatic reply in response to an automatic reply service without the intervention of any particular device when a videophone call arrives in the mobile information device and the user of the device cannot reply the call. <P>SOLUTION: An own mobile device 102A uses a mobile device setting section 111 to set the automatic reply service such as a "drive mode" wherein the user cannot reply a videophone call, and a videophone arrival call setting section 113 sets whether the user replies a phone call or not. A telephone directory setting section 301 sets image information used for an automatic reply depending on an opposite terminal by each group.
