<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a power-generating cell from destruction due to thermal stress in a fuel cell provided with ones of a solid electrolyte type. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell 10 is provided with a cell plate 11 loading power-generating cells 12 on its metal substrate 13, a separator plate 15 arranged in opposition to the cell plate 11, a manifold part 17 for fixing the cell plate 11 and the separator plate 15 with an interval kept. An outer peripheral part of the separator plate 15 is of a stepped shape, with an outer periphery part of the separator plate 15 and that of the metal substrate 13 jointed together. With this structure, a difference of thermal expansion of the separator plate 15 and the power-generating cells 12 is alleviated. Here, the separator plate 15, of which freedom of the outer peripheral part is regulated by the joint with the metal substrate, is deformed (bending deformation of a plane part and deformation of the stepped shape). Here, a tilting angle of the stepped shape of the separator plate 15 either of an obtuse angle or an acute angle excluding 90°. Therefore, a structure is realized in which the stepped shape of the separator plate 15 is prone to be deformed and the power-generating cells 12 are hardly affected by thermal stress. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
