The method involves arranging electronic components (15) in an interior (12) of a motor vehicle (10). A cooling fan (14) arranged in a spatially separated engine compartment (11) of the vehicle, is switched-on for cooling, when the actually detected ambient temperature of the electronic components exceeds a presettable reference temperature. The temperature of the electronic components is detected only when the cooling fan is switched off. A signal is generated and transmitted to a control device of the cooling fan for switching-on the cooling fan, when exceeding the temperature.
