A feeding device comprising: an accommodation unit that accommodates recording materials; a feeding unit that feeds a second recording material accommodated in the accommodation unit to a conveying path, after feeding a first recording material accommodated in the accommodation unit to the conveying path, with an interval being provided between a trailing edge of the first recording material and a leading edge of the second recording material; a first detecting unit that detects a recording material fed by the feeding unit at a first position in the conveying path; a second detecting unit that detects a recording material fed by the feeding unit at a second position that is downstream from the first position in a conveying direction of the recording material; and a control unit that controls the feeding unit, wherein, in a case where the interval is a first length, the control unit controls the feeding unit to feed the second recording material based on a timing in which the first detecting unit detects the first recording material, and wherein, in a case where the interval is a second length which is longer than the first length, the control unit controls the feeding unit to feed the second recording material based on a timing in which the second detecting unit detects the first recording material.
