1. A bone matrix implant produced by a method comprising the steps of:
a) preparing a bone matrix solution by dissolving bone in an amount of an anhydrous solvent comprising (i) hexafluoroisopropanol (HFP) or 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFE) and (ii) at least about 5 wt. % trifluoroacetic acid (TEA) sufficient to form the bone matrix solution at a temperature lower than about 25° C.; b) exposing the bone matrix solution to conditions sufficient to evaporate a portion of the solvent to form a colloidal gel; c) coating a surface of an implant with the colloidal gel; and d) exposing the coated surface to conditions sufficient to further evaporate an amount of solvent. |
