<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constitution capable of satisfactorily carrying a paper while attaining the miniaturization of an apparatus, regarding an image forming apparatus constituted so that the top surface of a paper placing part may face the bottom surface of a reading part. <P>SOLUTION: A compound machine 1 includes an image forming part 5 for forming an image, and a paper ejection tray 46 for placing the paper ejected through a paper ejection port is arranged above the image forming part 5. Further, the reading part 70 is arranged so as to cover the paper ejection tray 46, and the top surface 47 of the paper ejection tray 46 faces the bottom surface 71 of the reading part 70.
