PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a refractory for a heat storage chamber of a glass kiln especially useful for the ceiling part and upper side walls constituting a heat storage chamber of a glass kiln, having excellent properties regarding alkali resistance, creep resistance and heat-spalling resistance and free from the generation of environmental pollutants. SOLUTION: A mixture is prepared by compounding 20-50wt.% of a spinel clinker having a weight ratio of MgO/Al2 O of 20/80 to 60/40, 0.5-2.5wt.% of zircon and the remaining of a magnesia clinker. This refractory is obtained from the mixture by kneading, forming, drying and baking, and it has a bulk specific gravity of 2.90-3.10 and a creep deformation ratio of <=2.0% after passing of 50hr under the conditions of 1,450 deg.C and 0.2Mpa. |
