PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject pigment having good application characteristics and expanded colorability range and useful for the coloring of an ink, etc., including coating and printing ink by including a packet heated in a reducing atmosphere and having low refractive and high refractive colorless coatings formed on a specific base. SOLUTION: (A) A silicate platelet coated with titanium dioxide is used as a base and preferably heated in a reducing atmosphere such as ammonia gas to form at least one, preferably only one packet layer having (B) a colorless coating having a refractive index (n) of <=1.8 and (C) a colorless coating having a refractive index (n) of >=2.0 preferably by wet chemical method, etc. The component B is preferably composed principally of silicon oxide, hydrated silicon oxide, aluminum oxide, etc. The component C preferably has an optical thickness of <=100 nm and is preferably composed principally of titanium dioxide, hydrated titanium oxide, zirconium dioxide, etc. |
