PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a deterioration of exhaust gas while coping with a detection delay of the air-fuel ratio to be detected by a wide range air-fuel ratio sensor in relation to the air-fuel ratio supplied to an engine by computing an air-fuel ratio correction coefficient for controlling the quantity of fuel supply, etc., on the basis of the output signal of the wide range air-fuel ratio sensor. SOLUTION: Since a part of the injected fuel is adhered to the inner wall of an intake pipe and gradually flowing into a combustion chamber during the time from a time when the fuel is injected from an injector to a time when an air-fuel ratio sensor 6 generates the air-fuel ratio signal, time delay is generated. A real air-fuel ratio computing means 32 of an air-fuel ratio correction coefficient computing means 31 computes the real air-fuel ratio on the basis of the output of the air-fuel ratio sensor 6, and a target air-fuel ratio computing means 38 computes a target air-fuel ratio on the basis of the throttle opening or the like. An air-fuel ratio deviation computing means 33 computes a deviation between the target air-fuel ratio and the real air-fuel ratio, and a PID control means 34 computes an air-fuel ratio correcting coefficient on the basis of the deviation. Quantity of fuel supply is adjusted on the basis of the air-fuel ratio correction coefficient so as to control the air-fuel ratio.
