METHOD FOR TEMPERING SHEET GLASS AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tempering method for sheet glass capable of executing the main cooling and post cooling of the sheet glass superheated to a tempering temp. in the same cooling region in tempering operation of the sheet glass and the apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: At the time of cooling the sheet glass heated to the tempering temp. with the air released from plural pieces of nozzle box arrays, the respective nozzle boxes 1 are provided with a plurality orifices 6, 7 for ejection of fan air and nozzles 8 for ejection of compressed air are opened at several pieces of these orifices. Ejector-like jet flow obtd. by superposing the jet flow of the compressed air on the jet flow of the fan air released from the nozzle boxes and the jet flow of the fan air are used in combination at the time of subjecting the sheet glass to the main cooling by using such nozzle boxes. The jet flow of the compressed air is stopped and the sheet glass 5 is cooled only by the jet flow of the fan air at the time of subjecting the sheet glass to the post cooling.
