PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the hydrolysis deterioration of a cathode electrode foil surface by mixing a specified quantity of one or more kinds of boric acid, organic acids, or their salts and a specified quantity of one or more kinds of naphthalene compounds having hydroxide groups at specified substituted group positions with a mixed solvent composed of a main solvent of ethylene glycol and a sub-solvent of water. SOLUTION: The electrolyte solution for driving aluminum electrolytic capacitors comprises a solute of diammonium adipate dissolved in a mixed solvent composed of a main solvent of ethylene glycol and a sub-solvent of water, to which naphthalene compounds having hydroxide groups at positions 1 and 3 (Formula I), positions 1 and 4, 1 and 5, 1 and 6, 1 and 7, 2 and 6, 2 and 7 (Formula II) are added by 0.2 wt.% each. A naphthalene compounds having hydroxide groups at positions 1 and 6 is added by a quantity varied between 0.5 and 5.0 wt.%, and the use test is made to determine the additive quantity of 0.1-5 wt.% (5.0 wt.% max.), thereby suppressing the capacitance reduction.
