PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar switch, capable of preventing over a long period the occurrence of 'constant sounding' resulting from repeated switch operations, without significantly decreasing the controllability of the switch. SOLUTION: A pair of electrodes 2 bonded to an insulating plate 1 and facing each other across an adhesive layer 3 and a number of dot shaped insulators 6 are each 0.1 mm or less in thickness and 300 or less in Vickers hardness whereby a switch operating force is kept at twice or less that of a conventional switch. Also, the Vickers hardpess for each electrode 2 is set at 120 or more, to prevent unrecoverable deformation of the electrodes 2 resulting from repeated switch operations and the occurrence of 'constant sounding' resulting from the deformation.
