PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish compatibility between responsiveness required immediately after an engine restart and responsiveness required after stable engine combustion in the engine speed feedback control where a motor generator provides for an automatic engine restart. SOLUTION: Upon the output of an engine restart command, a controller 13 drives a motor generator 2 to crank an engine 1. When the engine speed reaches a prescribed speed, the motor generator 2 is used to provide engine speed feedback control and to restart fuel injection and spark ignition in the engine 1. In the engine speed feedback control, the controller 13 determines the combustion stability of the engine 1 on the basis of the regenerative torque required in the motor generator 2, and when the engine 1 is found to be in a stable combustion state, it changes the feedback gain to a relatively small level. |
