PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new compound useful for controlling diabetes and an aging-associated vascular complication including kidney disease, nerve injury, atherosclerosis, retinopathia, dermatologic damage, and coloring of teeth by breaking already formed AGE. SOLUTION: The pyridinium-based compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salts, the method for producing the compound or the like and the pharmaceutical composition containing one or more kinds of these compounds are provided. Concretely, N,N'-bis[3-carbonyl-1,1-(2-thien-2'-yl-2-oxoethyl) pyridinium]hydrazine dichloride is exemplified. The therapeutic method for a diabetic patient comprises administration of these compounds.
