PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL luminescent device of which a desired luminous pattern can be made simply by a user. SOLUTION: This EL luminescent device 10 is provided with a rear surface electrode layer 20 composed of a local variable sheet-like member 22 and an electric conductive sheet 24 adhered on the entire rear surface of the member 22. The electrical property of the part of the member 22 is changed partially in the thickness direction by the physical operation or the chemical operation. Therefore, the user simply can make the desired luminous pattern 11 by applying a local pressure on the front surface of the EL luminescent device 10 with the tip end of a bar or the like, or by applying a solvent with a writing brush.
