OPTICAL PICKUP AND OPTICAL RECORDING AND/OR REPRODUCTION EQUIPMENT WHICH ADOPTS THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup where light efficiency is high so as to cope with high speed, and to provide an optical recording and/or reproducing apparatus adopting the same.

SOLUTION: The optical pickup is provided with an optical unit which is provided for irradiating an information recording medium with light and photodetecting the light reflected and returned from the information recording medium to detect an information signal and/or an error signal; first and second objective lenses which converge incident light to form optical spots on the information storing surface of the recording medium; and a light path switching unit which is provided so as to switch the propagating direction of light electrically and propagates the light incident from the side of the optical unit selectively to either of the first and second objective lenses. The optical recording and/or reproducing apparatus adopts the optical pickup. Thus, light intensity toward each of the plurality of objective lens is maximized.
